I’ve spoken a lot recently about how we need to start turning our attention towards next season when and if the 2019/20 campaign resumes.
Well, regardless of how this season and indeed next season pans out, we at least we know that these two won’t be around for the ride.
The club announced yesterday that Jacques Maghoma and Jonathan Grounds would both be leaving St Andrew’s at the end of the season once their contracts expire at the end of June.
Maghoma played for the club 180 times, whilst Grounds totalled 170 appearances in a Blues shirt when they joined in 2015 and 2014 respectively, and when the news came out, there was plenty of sadness amongst the supporters over the fact that two veterans of the club will be departing.
Did we make the right decision with these departures?
Yes
No
Good luck to them
Don’t think either owe us anything based on what they cost/didnt cost— Gayleonthefence (@gayleonthefence) May 22, 2020
Mags was a big part of our best teams in the championship, that said he’s probably past his best now

At least Grounds can now move on with his career after the poor way the club ended up treating him after being a great servant for the club KRO Groundsey

Both far inferior players to who we have now, but were part of a far superior team. Maghoma was quality in glimpses whilst Grounds was bang average on his best day

Good ! Never going to get anywhere with dead wood like that

Although, as was also pointed out, there is one person whose contract is also expiring at the end of the season, and the fact that his name wasn’t mentioned in all of this got some fans wondering if perhaps he’s going to be sticking around a little bit longer.
We all know who’s getting a new deal don’t we? #bcfc https://t.co/2A3dow5mnA pic.twitter.com/qRru9vZBVV

What about you? What do you make of this news?
Times move on and players leave but it is still a sad day when players like these eventually part. Thanks for all your efforts, best of luck in the next part of your careers.
I would’ve given mags a year and released Grounds. Both great servants to the club. Good luck to both of them.
