Davis the Man for a Derby

David Davis may not be the most technically gifted footballer you’ll ever come across, but his competitive edge makes him an asset. The former Wolves man is Blues’ only midfielder of his type.

As the season approaches the business end, Gary Rowett will expect his fringe players to play a big part during the run in. Davis may get his bow at the Molineux for tomorrow’s lunch time derby.

Stephen Gleeson and Maikel Kieftenbeld have formed an impressive partnership in the middle of the park which has limited Davis’ chances. But Blues need an energy boost as the games start to mount up.

Whether Rowett opts for Davis is unclear, if he does, it’d depend on the shape of the team as to who he replaces.

Davis could sit alongside Gleeson if Rowett keeps the shape the same. But Jon Toral could drop to the bench if Davis is used as the advanced midfielder, as has been  the case on occasions earlier in the campaign.
