Davis Doubt

Midfielder David Davis may join Darren Randolph on the sidelines during Tuesday’s game away at Blackburn Rovers, after limping off in the 29th minute during Saturday’s 1-0 loss at home to Bolton Wanderers.

Davis who scored his first Blues goal away at Charlton a fortnight ago and since joining from Wolves in the summer, the 23 year old has been a mainstay in Lee Clark’s team helping strengthen the midfield and putting in numerous crucial tackles alongside Stephen Gleeson and Callum Reilly but Davis took a whack to his hip and may have to miss out on the visit to Ewood Park.

Lee Clark told the Birmingham Mail yesterday; ”He took a bang in the first challenge, one or two minutes in, on his hip. It stiffened up, he was struggling. Obviously David`s energy, athleticism in there is a big thing for us. We`re hopeful we can get him sorted for Tuesday but it`s too early to say at the moment.”

With Blues perched perilously above the relegation zone by one point, it is unfortunate that Blues will be without their first team goalkeeper in Randolph and possibly leading central midfielder but if Davis is out it will give Irish pairing Reilly and Gleeson a chance to form a partnership in what is a very important game and one that Birmingham City need at least a point from.
