David Dunn has said Blues have no excuses for not gaining automatic promotion back to the Premiership this season.

Speaking to the local press Dunn said:

‘I’d like to think we will finish in the top two. If not, then we will have under-achieved with the players we have got, simple as that really.

‘If you look at how we’ve played, I don’t think we’ve really played that well but we are right up there.

‘If we start playing a lot better then I’m sure we will have no problem getting out of the league, but we’ve been saying that nine games now which is, what, a quarter of the season? So we need to start doing it sooner rather than later.

‘First half we looked a bit lethargic, maybe. And the game was so open. There was sort of 80 yards between our centre-backs and their centre-backs. That was certainly a problem.

‘They seemed to win that little battle when the game was open.

‘In the second half we started to get a grip on it and did enough to get something. Certainly, the tackle on Nicklas Bendtner was a penalty and even down to 10 men, if anyone was going to score I thought it would be us.

‘We’ve got to get a balance between the two (attack and defence).

‘I think everyone could see in the second half when we started getting on the ball we are a real threat going forward with the players we have. Likewise, we need to tighten up at the back.

‘I’m sure it’s great for the fans to watch but I would much rather get a grip, keep the ball better and let them do all the work, for in the first half we were certainly too open.’
