A week certainly is a long time in football.

Having gone into the game, not exactly the most popular man in B9, I think it’s fair to say that Pep Clotet and the team’s performance on Friday has certainly done enough to earn some breathing space when it comes to the comments of the fans. Well, for a couple of weeks at least.

The Blues boss posted a message on his Twitter account after the game praising the team’s performance, and there were a number of fans who were quick to join in, not just praising the team but also the manager himself for what he was able to produce.

I’d enjoy all these words of thanks while I could if I were you Pep, one more bad result and the boo boys are probably going to find themselves back hounding you once more.

What I will say to the fans though, is surely this is the kind of performance that makes you think the Blues are going to be O.K this season? Maybe let’s not be so quick to judge what’s going on in the future and let things play out a little longer.

  • Been raising Pep all season for him wanting to play decent attacking football. It will take a while as it is so different from the previous seasons. We have the guys to perform now. Maybe a recognised striker short.

  • Just to point out that the “boo boys” you talk about are half a dozen gobshites who spout off on websites like this and who couldn’t manage a Subbuteo team on their own.
As far as I am aware Pep has not been given grief at matches by the crowd.
If he has any sense he won’t read newspapers or football websites, that way he can ignore the OTT criticism and OTT praise and just get on with his job.

  • Problem is not the managers ability or the players. The whole league will have watched that game , as they did at Charlton and make sure the team are not allowed to play like that again. Clotet will have to come up with better to beat the next team. Crowley will be double teamed, pressure put on Sujic and Colin will not be given the freedom of the right flank. Over to you Pep!

    • It’s 11 vs 11 so if you double team Crowley you leave someone else free. Having someone like Bellingham in CM means you actually have a midfielder that attacks you unlike Davis. If the players pass and move like versus Boro it is very difficult for the opposition to stop you.
