On Wednesday evening, Birmingham City claimed their third win of preseason, defeating Port Vale at Vale Park in what was a very feisty encounter.

The introduction of Reece Brown and Jack Storer certainly brought Blues to life and after some smart work from James Vaughan at the back post, former Stevenage striker Storer was able to simply head the ball into an empty net.

Blues added a second with six minutes left to play when substitute Clayton Donaldson was brought down in the box. Paul Caddis stepped up to put the ball into the back of the net, meaning he now has two goals this preseason.

However, the real flair in the game came from the young striker Storer. As well as being involved in a huge bust up by the corner flag following a rather naughty challenge, he provided Blues with a much needed goal and he showed just how much of a presence he has in front of goal.

The 18-year-old netted his fifth goal in as many games, meaning at the moment he is the most in from striker that the club have and after Blues boss Gary Rowett highlighted just how well he had been doing in training, I think we could be seeing quite a bit of him in the Sky Bet Championship next season.

Although he may not get as much chance as Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, if he does continue in this sort of form, it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if people started calling the youngster the Championship’s version of the Red Devils striker.

With Blues reportedly going back in with another bid for Sheffield Wednesday striker Che Adams just before the game on Wednesday, I believe it wouldn’t do the club any harm to bring the youngsters through just to show some of the first team how to do it.

Yes, some may say that Storer is inexperienced and that is because he is, but because he has raw talent, other teams in the division won’t know what to expect from him and if Rowett can use that to his advantage then who knows what could happen next season for the teenager.

In my opinion, I think Storer should be included more in the first team than Nicolai Brock-Madsen next season because I think the youngster is more likely to score goals in the second tier of English football compared to the Dane.

Blues fans, have you been impressed with Jack Storer so far this preseason? Would you give him a shot at first team football this year? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
