Cotterill remains… for now

On a day when Blues fans wanted Steve Cotterill to be dismissed, he remains. Somehow, he will be in the dugout at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

One would assume he is hanging on to his job by the finest of threads. But for the support of the players, he would have been axed yesterday.

Club representatives issued a ‘rallying call’ to players and management. But Cotterill appears to be one miserable defeat away from the sack.

Cotterill has already lost the fans to a point where the relationship with them is too strained to survive much longer. Quite simply, Blues could win every game between now and May 7-0 and Cotterill would still not be welcomed by the majority of supporters.

It wasn’t a good day for the club. After announcing losses of £17m, they will now wait to learn their punishment for failing to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations.

The soap opera at Birmingham City continues. With all the ill feeling towards the board, manager and players, it’s easy to forget that we’re in the midst of yet another relegation battle.

Yesterday, I joined the Blues Trust. Because while I may loathe the people running our club, I still love Birmingham City. I urge every genuine Bluenose to do the same. It’s £5 for a year. That’s cheaper than two pints inside St. Andrews.
