“Cost a good few quid”: Journalist words should give Birmingham City fans a sense of déjà vu

|

I think if you could sum up Birmingham City’s transfer window, not just this one but those in the past as well, in just six words, it would probably be these six.

When asked on social media whether or not Blues would be continuing their pursuit of either Karl Darlow or Neil Etheridge this summer, journalist Alan Nixon gave a rather short and straight to the point answer, implying that the club aren’t willing to splash the cash when it comes to signing either of them because of the costs involved.

I feel that the club are more or less setting new boss Aitor Karanka up to fail here if this carries on for much longer.

I said when we were first linked with him that Karanka is a man who needs investment to work at a football club, and at the moment, not only is he not getting it, but the chances of him getting more in the future don’t look all that good either.

How much will Blues spend in this window?

More than £15m

£15m or less

It’s at this point you start to wonder where the £25m for Jude Bellingham went. Whilst some of it might have gone to pay off some of the huge debt we had, you’d think that some of it would have been kept behind for the new boss to work with.

Otherwise what really was the point?

Hope I am wrong but ambiguous contracts are an integral part of the Chinese culture and Karanka may well have been sold a dummy on the money for transfers. Messi is wants a free transfer from Barcelona!!!!
