It’s a far cry from the positive reaction that he was getting for some of his other comments.
It just goes to show that you need to tread a bit of a fine line when it comes to these sort of things, especially when you’re in as delicate a situation as we find ourselves in, only five points clear and without a win since the restart.
Speaking after Blues’ late 1-0 defeat away to Fulham, goalkeeper Lee Camp tried to talk about the spirit of the squad and the amount of effort that the players put in across the season. However, the fans didn’t seem to be having any of it.
Are we safe yet?
Yes
No
With some fans believing that we are slowly walking towards a relegation battle, it seems that it isn’t effort that they want from the players, they want results.
And with only five games left of the season, there’s not a lot of time left to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Hear the same stuff every year.

Wigan going into administration will keep us up. What a sad state of affairs.

Unfortunately we need more than character we need desire application of footballing ideas and not just to sit and soak up pressure we need someone to take responsibility get on the ball and pass to a teammate not giving it away all the time and inviting pressure none stop

What about you? What do you make of Camp’s comments?
I wouldn’t rely too much on the Wigan points deduction. It may not happen as they’re fighting against the deduction on the ‘fit and proper’ owners approved by the EFL just a month ago. Barnsley and Luton may struggle to make up the 8 and 9 points but Boro, Hull, Charlton, Huddersfield, Stoke will overtake us unless we pick up points ASAP. With our awful goal difference we would be below most of the teams should they manage to draw level on points.
But that wonderful institution the EFL have still not ruled on Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday who both could be deducted 12 pts but a interesting scenario is that Barnsley have said if they are relegated they will appeal because of the delayed rulings on both,so that is another twist.
