Birmingham City have today confirmed that young midfielder Reece Brown has joined League One side Chesterfield on loan until the end of the season.

Yesterday afternoon, Blues boss Gianfranco Zola admitted that he would be looking to send out a handful of the fringe players on loan in order for them to get some much needed game time and Brown is the first one to leave.

20-year-old Brown has made nine appearances for Blues this season but following the arrival of Craig Gardner, chances have now become even more limited for the creative midfielder and a loan move seems to be the right thing for him at this moment in time.

Chesterfield are currently in the League One relegation zone but are only three points from safety and with Brown’s creativity in midfield, they are likely to starting picking up more points.

  • I think should have been given a chance in the first team I cant see what benefit Chesterfield are to him and his learning. I main Chesterfield are not the best of clubs why not send him to a top League One side one that is challenging realistically for promotion.
