Maikel Kieftenbeld remains a Birmingham City player after Derby County confirmed that the transfer has not received ratification from the EFL.
It was announced that the player had left Blues to link up once again with former manager Gary Rowett in the dying embers of Deadline Day, but the transfer has not been approved.
Derby insist that the documentation was completed before the 11pm deadline but, due to Kieftenbeld being back home in Holland at the time, the other remaining forms came too late.
The 27-year-old has now returned to Blues.
