Bolton have confirmed the signing of Everton midfielder Joe Williams on loan for the rest of the season.
A move to the Trotters was expected as the Football Insider reporter Pete O’Rourke revealed earlier this week that Phil Parkinson’s side were the favourites to sign the 21-year-old.
However, Williams was also reportedly on our radar, as well as Bristol City and Hull City. Still, even if he was a target of ours, I don’t think he would have been the solution to our issues in central midfield.
Both Gary Gardner and Maikel Kieftenbeld worked hard in the 1-0 defeat last night, but it’s vitally important that we recruit someone with a better passing range.
Although we controlled a good deal of the game against Bolton, there’s no doubt we need to improve in the final third, and while a clinical striker would be a top priority, the fact is we are only allowed one more signing before August 31st.
What do you think? Should we sign another striker or a playmaker? Let me know in the poll:
