Colin Doyle – The Striker!

Lee Clark has been having a few laughs about playing Colin Doyle upfront in the last game against Shamrock Rovers.

It all came about after Doyle volunteered (jokingly) about playing upfront last season due to the injury crisis, as a make shift emergency striker.

With Randolph in goal for the game Doyle decided to get onto Lee Clark about having a run out up front, and probably to his own surprise he got his wish!

Clark (Birmingham Mail) –

‘To be honest he was on at me all night, it was just a shame the defender cut that one cross out when he was there ready to score. I think there might have been a pitch invasion had he got it.

thankfully we can have a laugh and a joke about Colin coming on up front.’

The last bit was Clark pointing out it would not have been all fun and games had the Matt Green injury been bad news, all in all though, a bit of good fun and a wonderful example of the positive atmosphere galvanising the team.

The Blues fans cheered every touch as you would expect, with Doyle being a rather popular player due to his loyalty to the club.
