Blues U21 side fell to there second successive defeat of the season as they lost 2-1 away to Colchester United. It was a side with a mixture of experience and you the for Blues as trialist Emmanuel Mbende and Mitch Hancox were both involved.
As like the first match of the season, most of the action came in the first half. Colchester took a lead just before the twenty minute mark through Louis Dunne, some sloppy defending lead to an easy finish for Dunne.

Blues then hit back with midfielder Liam Truslove, he was teed up by right back Josh Cogley and the Blues midfielder made no mistake by heading in the equaliser to maintain his brilliant goal scoring record for the U21 side.

Yet again, Blues followed the pattern of the first match against Brentford, they let themselves go another goal behind yet again. Blues were caught napping once again at the back and Colchesters Tom Lapslie. Colchester had a 2-1 lead going into the break.

Blues the started the second half brightly but chances for Reece Brown, Wes McDonald and George O’neil couldn’t draw Blues level. Trialist Emanuel Mbende was then sent off in the latter stages of the match for a second yellow card and Blues slipped to a second defeat in the League season.

On a bright note, midfielder Charlee Adams completed a half for Blues on his return from injury and the Academy graduate will look to regain fitness as soon as possible and push for a place in the Gary Rowett’s squad.

Blues: Trueman, Cogley, Hancox, Baba, Mbende, Harding, Brown, Adams (McDonald ht), Truslove, Solomon-Otabor (McFarlane 75), Jones (O’Neill 80). Not used: Weaver, Cotton.
