It seems as if Blues have found the natural replacement to the suspended Jonathan Spector. Josh Dacres-Cogley was given the nod at right back and didn’t let anyone down.

The 20 year-old put in a solid defensive performance and even offered some flare when attacking.

Cogley wasn’t the only bright spark of the afternoon as Blues picked up their first away win since early September at Brentford thanks to goal from Clayton Donaldson and Ryan Shotton. The return of Robert Tesche seemed to give the team more of a foothold in midfield. The German was a calm and assured presence in the middle of the park and is undoubtedly invaluable to the team, when fit.

The second half was hard going and the home side can probably count themselves unlucky not to get something from the game. After pulling a goal back late on, the crossbar and the offside flag came to Blues’ rescue.

But in the end, Gary Rowett’s men deserve our praise for holding on for a massive away win which now puts them fourth in the league.
