Birmingham manager Lee Clark has been quick to crush rumours that he will be selling Nathan Redmond in the summer.

There has been speculation that the Birmingham star would be used as a way for the club to get some cash together to buy players, but Clark says that this is not the plan.

Blues have finished higher in the league than what many fans thought after stringing a few good results together while bringing youth into the side, and youth will play a big part in next season also.

Redmond, has just one year left on his current contract and like Jack Butland before him, attention is being paid to him from clubs in the Premier League.

City missed the chance of big money from Butland with him eventually going to Stoke City although bigger offers had been made for the player in the previous transfer window.

And Clark is keen to make sure that it doesn’t happen again with Redmond, insisting that only a substantial sum would tempt them into doing a deal.

Clark told the Birmingham Mail: ‘It would be a crazy decision to cash in on him. It would have to take big money, a fantastic offer, for us to part with him.

‘Can we keep him? Yes, of course. Why not? He’s a superb player. He’s a local lad and he’s enjoying his football.’
