Birmingham manager Lee Clark has spoken this morning to talkSPORT and has revealed he told Adeyemi to reject other Championship offers as he is destined for the Premier League.

Clark bemoaned the timing of the transfer interest, having done all of his business early on in the summer. He said the bid isn`t surprising but he doesn`t need to go to another Championship club.

The manager also praised the player, calling him an intelligent and a leader.

“The news broke last night, which isn`t ideal in the week leading up towards the season. Things never run smoothly though.”

It would seem Birmingham are going to try to keep Adeyemi as it is so close to the start of the season. Cardiff`s timing of the bid is not ideal for Blues nor is it ideal for them, the move coming after news Jordan Mutch is moving on to the Premier League.

From sources around the club and from Hong Kong, Blues have plenty of cash to keep the club going this season and it would seem they are in no rush to sell Adeyemi. If he is to go it would next be likely to happen in January should Birmingham hold their ground.

Adeyemi, if he still wants to go could possibly force a move in January as Blues look to make some money from him before his contract ends. However we are waiting for information on any contract extension options and will update this when we can.

The 22 year old is Blues vice-captain and played 35 times in the league last year; scoring one goal and winning young player of the year.
