Lee Clark was left wondering where it all went wrong on Saturday after watching his side slump to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Barnsley.

Even more amazing was the fact that the defeat came in Blues own back yard where there was a lot more empty seats than full ones again and looking at the performance that City put in, a lot of those empty seats will be staying that way.

Five goals in 24 second half minutes sent the Tykes hope with all the points from this game and I bet they could not remember a time when they had it so easy.

The main culprit who inflicted most of the misery on the home side was Craig Davies who helped himself to four of the five goals in a display from the Tykes that could only be described as devastating to Birmingham…. A word that Clark used in his summing up.

He told Sky Sports: ‘Losing any game at home is a massive disappointment but to lose by this margin is devastating.

‘Any loss is tough to take but this one is very tough.

‘We never started the game. We were lucky it was goalless at half-time in all honesty.

‘It was a totally flat performance in every aspect. Barnsley played through us. It’s an awful performance.

‘There were lots of mistakes but everything we did was so flat. There was no urgency and it was lifeless.

‘I said at half-time we had got away with it but we didn’t heed the warning. We knew we hadn’t performed.

‘First and foremost, as the leader, I have to apologise to everyone associated with the football club for the performance.’
