Jordon Ibe, Andrew Shinnie and Nikola Zigic gave Birmingham City boss Lee Clark something to smile about, all were all on the mark for Blues at the Den last night.

The 3-2 victory was just what Blues needed as it lifted the club up to 19th in the league and gave them their 40th point of the season.

But even though he was pleased that his side had won, Clark admitted that he was still looking over his shoulder at sides just below themselves, especially Charlton who have three games in hand.

With his side eight points clear of the relegation zone, Clark said cautiously: ‘We’re not safe yet. Until it’s mathematically impossible for us to get dragged into it we have to keep going.

‘I see the results the teams in and around us have got this evening and it just tells me it’s never over until it’s over.

‘It’s impossible to have a target in mind. Last season showed anything can happen.

‘We have a huge game on Saturday [against Bournemouth] and a positive result could take us even further clear.’

Blues face Bournemouth at St Andrews on Saturday before three away games on the bounce against Doncaster, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.
