Clark: A Tough Game

After a match where Blues didn’t really impress, Lee Clark explains the game in his eyes to the official site.

Clark said on the result ‘One of the aspects during pre-season is dry pitches being cut too short so you’ve got to make your own tempo and I felt we went a little bit off that in the first-half.’

Scott Allan offered this opinion ‘It’s still early doors, the more games we play with it then hopefully it will get better for us.’

All in all it was probably a good run out for fitness in a game that turned out to me more competitive than expected, Oxford stuck with Blues and never let up. The failure to create much chances could be put down to the pitch being so dry as Clark reminded the reporter, these days a lot of championship pitches are much better quality than what you normally find on your pre-season rounds.

Blues have looked decent in their pre-season outings thus far, a few draws but all spirited displays, even when the creativity has lacked. Not that I want to put too much of a positive spin on things but this squad doesn’t look like one that will sink like a stone; I know some Blues fans are fearing this come the start of the season.
