Birmingham City were left shell-shocked after James Hayter scored twice in seven first-half minutes to give Yeovil all the points at St Andrews on Saturday.

Hayter was looking sharp and he was quick to take advantage of a Mullins head back to keeper Darren Randolph in the 12th minute and stab the ball home for 1-0.

Then the Blues’ keeper was called upon to make good saves from Joe Ralls and Moore.

But Hayter was on the mark again just a few minutes later when he got on the end of a cross from Ralls to head home the Glover’s second and his sixth in four games.

Blues had their chances, Lee Novak was unlucky to see a headed effort hit the bar and goalkeeper Marek Stech somehow saved a header from Brian Howard from entering the net from close range.

Birmingham assistant manager Terry McDermott told reporters after the game: ‘To say we are disappointed is an understatement.

‘We actually played quite well in the first half when we created a lot of chances.

‘The second half became more difficult. When you park 10 men behind the ball it is difficult to break. We should have dealt with the two goals and we paid the penalty.’
