Dedicated Blues fan, Jack Gilbert, had an early Christmas present when his selfless charity fund raising saw him lead the team out as mascot at Friday`s home clash against Cardiff City.

After raising more than £1,000 for two local charities, the 14-year-old footie fan from Sutton Coldfield was chosen to win the experience through the EZE Wishes campaign organised by Eze Group, the club`s principal partner and main shirt sponsor for the 2015/16 season.

Jack was nominated by his mother, Kay Gilbert, who wrote: “Jack has been a Bluenose since day one. He is a kind-hearted lad and demonstrated this recently when he completed a 24-hour stream (he loves his gaming) and raised more than £300 for Mind.

“Earlier he completed two charity bike rides with his Dad and brothers, raising more than £1000 for Air Ambulance. It would make his Christmas if he were chosen.”

Kitted out in a BCFC strip, Jack led his heroes out alongside goalkeeper, Thomasz Kuszczak, before having photos with the players and the Blues` mascots, Beau and Belle.

“Jack had such a fantastic time as a mascot at the game, and was left in complete awe meeting with his heroes on the pitch.

‘He said being a mascot was a ‘dream come true`, but watching his team win on the day was as though ‘all his Christmases had come at once,” added Kay.

EZE Group launched the EZE Wishes campaign to recognise and reward fans who have overcome adversity, carried out selfless community work or demonstrated outstanding commitment to supporting Blues.

CEO of EZE Group Dominic O`Reilly said: “While we were inundated with so many great nominations, we felt Jack`s heart-warming efforts to help raise money for charity were truly worthy of our special Mascot Eze Wish.

“We`re delighted Jack enjoyed meeting his heroes, and hope he has some great memories from his day to share with his family and friends this Christmas.”
