Che or nay?

It is being reported today that Birmingham City have had a bid rejected by Sheffield United for attacking midfielder Che Adams.

The 20-year-old scored 11 goals from 36 league appearances last season as the Blades finished in a mediocre 11th place, eight points off the play-offs.

The bid for Adams is said to be seven figures and he has also attracted interest from Wigan and Huddersfield.

Gary Rowett`s main priority this summer is to bring in another striker and Adams seems to fit what he is looking for.

He is young, has scored goals and also has the versatility to play in any position across the front line. His build and pace also gives him that advantage to play in the wide positions and score goals from there which is an added bonus.

Before this rumour, I hadn’t really thought about someone like Adams as a potential signing but, when I think about it, he could be a good acquisition.

The only worry is the price that we would be paying for him. Over a £1m for a 20-year-old from League One is a lot of money and Blues aren’t in a position to just spend how we want.

He does, however, score goals and that is just what we need. Whether that be from the striking position or out wide, it seems that Adams can deliver from either position.

At such a young stage in his career, he hasn’t fully proven himself and will still have a lot of developing to do. But, it seems that Rowett is preferring a younger striker over someone with the nous and know how. He would certainly be a positive signing.
