Luke Turner talks about Blues’ troubles in front of goal…

Although yesterday’s second half performance was very good and Blues dominated, you can’t help but notice the chances that we missed.

Blues had four or five excellent opportunities to take the lead against Wolves but our clinical edge just wasn’t there and it hasn’t been there for some time.

Our failure to score yesterday wasn’t just a one off. We have been struggling for goals in recent times, particularly away from home.

In fact, we haven’t scored an away goal in any of our last five- a run which stretches back to that 3-0 demolition of Derby on January 16th.

That is a very concerning statistic considering what we are aiming for at this present moment in time.

Such has been the form of others around us, we are extremely lucky to still be in the mix for a play off spot. But, it is getting ever so tight up there.

I was astounded that we couldn’t at least take one of the chances we had yesterday. They were very very good clear cut chances and the players need to be taking them.

The best chances fell to two players who you would both back to put them away. Donaldson dragged a left footed shot wide when he really needed to at least hit the target as the keeper had committed himself.

Jon Toral also wasted perhaps the best chance of the game as he somehow missed the target when he had the width of the goal in front of him.

One goal yesterday would’ve probably won us the game. Wolves, at present, aren’t anything special and we should’ve put the game to bed and walked away with three points.

An unlikely source, David Davis, managed to hit the target after some great work but he found Carl Ikeme equal to his powerful effort.

It is getting to that point in the season where every game matters and, for Blues to stay in touch with the top six, they need to improve and have that cutting, clinical edge.
