Championships Club Ready To Up Their Interest In Birmingham Stopper

|

Leeds United are preparing to step up their interest in David Stockdale, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Whites’ top target Manchester City’s Angus Gunn has a number of loan offers from different clubs, and as a backup plan in case they miss out on the England U21 international, they are looking at the cost of signing our no.13 instead.

It is believed that Stockdale has been given permission to leave St Andrews by Garry Monk with the manager looking for another number one.

The former Brighton keeper signed a three-year deal with us after leaving the Seagulls last summer and is believed to be on approximately £40k a week.

Whether Leeds will be able to afford the 32-year-old’s wages, we will have to see. In any case, with Tomasz Kuszczak also confirming he is free to leave, we will no doubt be stepping up our own search for a new goalkeeper in the coming weeks.
