Championship Rival Keen On Hijacking Birmingham’s Move For Teenager

|

Middlesbrough are interested in signing Utsiktens BK striker Joel Mumbongo, according to Fotballdirekt.se.

The 19-year-old is currently on trial with us and impressed during training this week, but he hasn’t signed for the club.

Mumbongo has one year left on his contract with Utsiktens and a deal would have to be thrashed out with the Swedish third division side for a permanent move to take place.

The Swedish Under 19 international is highly rated and has already had trials at Manchester City, Everton and Brentford.

With Garry Monk being restricted to five additions during this transfer window, he will have to decide whether the forward is of sufficient quality for the Championship.

We have three senior strikers on the books if you include Che Adams, and for a 46 game league season, that is unlikely to be sufficient. Strengthening in the final third of the pitch will be a priority before the transfer deadline.
