Championship Boss Dents Birmingham’s Hopes Of Financial Windfall

|

Gary Rowett has confirmed that Stoke City have not received an acceptable offer for Jack Butland with the transfer deadline just over a week away.

We reportedly have a 20% sell-on fee for the England international which could free up funds for Garry Monk to spend on transfers, but it seems that the transfer windfall will not be forthcoming if the Potters boss is to be believed:

“The answer is we haven’t had an offer which the club feel is financially viable – or I don’t think any strong offer yet.”

With Edward Cheng hinting that there is “positive news” on the horizon for the club, our keen interest in Butland’s sale may no longer be required.

At the time of writing, there has been no official word about what the director is talking about, although it does sound promising. Hopefully, it is something to do with the transfer embargo. The squad needs to be strengthened, and even if we only do get a week to sign new players that would be better than nothing at least. I’m probably getting ahead of myself a bit though. Let’s just wait for what the club has to say.
