Birmingham City will be losing the services of four more players after telling Marlon King, Peter Lovenkrands, Darren Ambrose and Hayden Mullins that they can all look for other clubs.

Basically, City are trying to cut down on expenses any way that they can and that means getting some of the higher earners off the wage bill.

Blues will be letting the players go on free transfers and that includes last season’s top scorer Marlon King.

At the end of the season, Blues said goodbye to Keith Fahey, Steven Caldwell and Pablo Ibanez, while Stephen Carr retired.

But it seems that this has not made a big enough reduction in the wage cost, not helped by the failure to move on Nikola Zigic who picks up £50,000 a week.

For next season Blues are moving in free signings Lee Novak, Andrew Shinnie, Darren Randolph and Olly Lee, there is also a need to bring younger players forward from out of the academy.

If we are lucky, we may see a few loan players arriving.
