Birmingham City have had to concede to selling their midfield vice-captain Tom Adeyemi after a meeting with the player failed to convince him to stay.

The parties met yesterday with Clark insisting Adeyemi did not need to move to Cardiff, who was relegated without much of a fight last time out. The deal is set to be in excess of £1m with a sell on fee similar to Jordan Mutch.

Cardiff are winning this transfer battle due to Birmingham`s financial situation it is understood. Blues simply cannot match the wages that Cardiff are set to offer Adeyemi. The player has also simply not agreed to stay at the club and Clark knows it is unwise to force a player to continue playing for the club.

Adeyemi will need to be replaced and it is thought the money from this transfer and the money from Jordan Mutch will now be in some part used to find a replacement before Saturday. The club know a loan or free market choice would not be of good quality so close to the season.

The midfielder now leaves with a sea of bad feeling from the Blues support who feel a lack of loyalty and respect have been exerted by the player. His transfer to Cardiff will be announced in the next day or so.
