The news that Paul Robinson has penned a one year extension to his contract would have been met with mixed feeling from Blues fans. But the coaching role that accompanies his new deal is a fantastic piece of business.
At the age of 37, it`s unlikely Robbo will be a focal point of the first team as Gary Rowett looks to strengthen his defensive options. But in a long gruelling Championship campaign, injuries and suspensions will occur and having Robinson as cover is a decent option to have.
But it`s on the training field where Robbo can really be of value. His influence around the dressing room has always been vital but now he dips his toes in to the coaching game.
The development squad will be where his priorities lie. With so much raw potential available but untried and untested, Robbo`s experience could prove invaluable.
