Can Blues rewind a fortnight at the City Ground?

The international break came at the wrong time for Birmingham City. Unbeaten in seven with just a solitary defeat in eleven outings this season, the momentum was alive and kicking. As they prepare to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground tonight, the hope is that the international break hasn`t sapped the energy or mentality.

When a team is on a decent run of form, any disruption to that is dreaded. After what is effectively a two week break, it can be difficult to get the previous ebb and flow back. And it is frustrating for the fans who are forced choose between watching an England team labour through the gears against Slovenia or Eastenders. It really is a no-win situation.

If we`re to put a positive spin on it, Clayton Donaldson`s return from injury would be worth a mention. The big decision will be whether to start with the Jamaican striker, who has a fantastic record against Forest, or whether to stick with the impressive Lukas Jutkiewicz.

I expect a tough game at Forest tonight. They will be glad they`re playing Blues after a fortnight`s break and will be looking to inflict the second defeat on us.

I really don`t want to sound like a pessimist but I can see Blues getting stuffed. With only one defeat on the board, the law of averages suggests that another has to follow sooner rather than later. It doesn`t have to be tonight but this game has all the markings of a potential sucker punch.

Frankly, I`d snap your hands off for a point. That isn`t me being unambitious, I`m simply trying to limit the amount of points we drop.
