When answering questions on the Birmingham City website Lee Clark has hinted that Paul Caddis could be moved into central midfield as Birmingham look to improve their league fortunes.

Last season Paul Caddis scored the all important goal to rescue Blues from the dreaded drop. Caddis has been used in midfield before by Blues, whilst on loan from Swindon Town.

“Paul played a lot of his football, his early days at Celtic, as a midfield player and I have got to say – not just in the Bolton game, where he scored the now famous equalising goal to keep us in the Championship – in games previous to that he was really good in central midfield, playing in a three

It`s not an unknown for him. He`s done it many times and obviously he has got another string to his bow, he can play right-back and central midfield.

I think Paul enjoys playing in there as well (midfield) so we will be looking at that over the course of the season.”

With Neil Eardley back in the fold following his injury and Caddis` important role to the team the determined Scotsman may well be found a place in midfield over the course of the season.

Caddis started his career as a trainee at Celtic making just 3 starts for the club before being moved on. Since leaving Dundee United Caddis took a drop in footballing recognition but now in his second spell with Birmingham the defender is certainly strengthening his value.

Blues take on Forest Green on Tuesday and we will have a keen eye on where Caddis takes to the field.
