Due to Joe Hart pulling out of the England squad, Blues goalkeeper Jack Butland stands a chance of making his England debut for the friendly with Italy on Wednesday night.

Hart suffered a back spasm which ruled him out of Sunday’s FA Community Shield game against Chelsea at Villa Park.

This means that Butland or John Ruddy will be making their first England senior appearance, or then again they may both play.

Butland replaced Ruddy in the Euro 2012 competition and although he did not make an appearance for the three lions, he did impress all with his hard work and enthusiasm for the game in training.

Butland has also had the experience in playing in front of big crowds at major venues in the Olympics where he also did very well indeed.

Originally, Butland would have flown out to Switzerland where the game is being played but would return for Blues Capital One cup game against Barnet.

But now he looks to be heading for an England cap before he has played a game for his club.
