Birmingham’s hot property Jack Butland says he would like to stay at Blues to earn himself a start in the Premier League rather than move to a Premier League club.

The 19 year old has been picked for the Team GB Olympic team and was also called up to the full England squad that took part in Euro 2012, but as of yet he has not managed the breakthrough to the senior team, but does look forward to making his debut soon.

Southampton have been making a lot of noise about wanting to sign the talented youngster, others are also interested but Butland feels his immediate future lies at St Andrews.

The Daily Express quotes Butland as saying: ‘I want to play as many games at the highest level as I possibly can.

‘I should be pushing for a first-team place at Birmingham. That’s what I want, not to be sitting on the bench. It is time I played now.

‘I’ve had some great experiences with England at the European Championship and I can’t wait for the Olympics to start.

‘My name has been linked with some interested clubs and that’s flattering. It’s not an option for me now though, I need games.’
