Teenage goalkeeper Jack Butland has spent the season on loan at Cheltenham, helping them secure a spot in the League Two play-off final.

Now he want to establish himself as Blues number one keeper before too long.

As well as having a great time at Cheltenham this season, Butland has also been picked as standby for the England Euro 2012 squad as well as being linked to Team GB Olympic squad.

But his main aim is to get himself installed as Blues main keeper.

‘That’s the target, I want to be the No.1, I want to be playing,’ he told the Birmingham Mail.

‘Hopefully this season I have done enough and shown enough to convince the manager. I am confident in my ability.’

He added: ‘I hope I have a good pre-season, get in the best possible shape, and make it impossible for Hughton not to pick me.

‘I’m gearing everything towards next season and trying to prove to the manager that I deserve to be No.1.’
