Birmingham and Great Britain goalkeeper Jack Butland has admitted he not even close to challenging Joe Hart for his place in the England side.
There is a squad being named on Thursday for England’s August 15th clash with Italy and Butland hopes that he can keep his place in that squad as England’s third choice keeper after a good showing for Team GB in the Olympics.
Many say that Birmingham and Butland will be parting company before too very long as he seeks to take his international career a step further.
Before the game with South Korea, Butland told the press: ‘I enjoyed being part of the England set-up because I gained so much experience and hopefully that will continue.
‘But I am still only 19 and I need to play games before I can ever think about testing Joe because he is one of the best keepers in the world at present.
‘All I want to do at the moment is enjoy this Olympic experience and see where it takes me.’
