Steve Bruce has admitted he would’ve been booing last night aswell.

‘I’ve had a few bad nights and that was certainly one of the worst ones, simply for the way that we played.

‘We played with a fear. We needed a few people to stand up and be counted but as a team performance it was shocking.

‘And as the manager I take full responsibility. I prepare them and pick the team.

‘I can’t make any excuses. There were players out there who couldn’t handle the situation that they were in.

‘And there were experienced players out there, not just young ones.

‘If I had been a supporter and paid a lot of money for a ticket then I think I would have been booing.

‘As the manager I have to take it on the chin, dust myself down and go again.

‘Unless you’re the chosen one, Mr Wenger or Mr Ferguson then you go into it knowing that it isn’t always going to be a bed of roses.

‘And certainly at the moment it isn’t but it is not in my nature to walk away.

‘I made the decision in the summer that I wanted to build a new team.

‘I do believe that we have a lot of good players here for the future with the young ones we’ve got.’

So it’s not in Bruce’s nature to walk away is it? I wonder what supporters of the clubs he’s managed previously would say in response to that!
