Steve Bruce was happy with the final pre-season friendly work out against Nancy but admitted

‘I hated friendlies as a player and I hate them as a manager. I’m glad they are all out of the road!’

Bruce said: ‘Nancy won the French League Cup last season and you can see why because they are a good team. They have typical continental flair, they keep the ball and concentrate on possession. It was a good workout for us and I think we had the better chances in the game.’

Blues drew 1-1 against AS Nancy with Mikael Forssell on the score-sheet.

Bruce said ‘we have worked extremely hard and come through it. Players like David Dunn and Mikael Forssell are physically in better nick, touch wood, than they have been in the last couple of years so that all bodes well for us. We are in good spirits for when the proper ball comes out next week.’

Now for the real action as the Championship season kicks off next weekend!
