Steve Bruce has decribed last nights match as a ‘great advert for the Championship’.

Blues were behind for most of the match after an early goal by Sunderland but thankfully substitute DJ Campebll managed to rescue a point on 90 minutes.

Even our official site admits that the first 45 minutes from Sunderland was probably the finest performance seen from a visiting team this season, but we thankfully managed to get ourselves back into the match in the second half and ended with a hard fought point.

Speaking after the match, Bruce said:

‘In the first half I thought Sunderland were excellent and caused us a lot of problems and scored a wonderful goal.

‘They were confident, kept the ball well and caused us a threat, and although we didn’t play well but we stuck at it

‘Roy has put together a team at Sunderland which has got every chance of promotion.

‘In the space of six months under him they’re a different team from the start of the season.

‘Sometimes you have to change things around a little bit and make a couple of personnel changes and that helps you get back into the game.

‘In the second half I thought it was a fantastic game of football between two really good sides and a great advert for the Championship.

‘Doyle was absolutely excellent.

‘I’ve been very pleased with him because he’s made two or three crucial saves but their keeper also did well, particularly with the save from Larsson.’
