Birmingham City have completed the signing of Brentford defender Harlee Dean for a fee of around £2.2m.

The 26-year-old signed a three-year deal at St. Andrew`s, with the option of a further year, after completing a medical at the club yesterday.

Dean missed just a handful of games for Brentford over the past few seasons and has been a key component in their side, only recently losing the captaincy.

He featured over 200 times for them after initially arriving on loan from Southampton in 2011 when the club were in League One.

The centre back made 42 Championship appearances last season and scored three goals.

  • Looks a bit of like for like,is he really an improvement on the outgoing Shotton or is this a case of the manager wanting his own signings in and out with the old guard? Time will tell if he is any better than what we have just released at a net gain.
Time for excuses is over, the manager has said he is happy with his team. Now finally we can judge it in these tough games coming up.Who will we land in the countdown to the window shutting?

  • All our CBs lack a bit of pace , I think the pace of Acquah as front cover with Ndoye is now a must , it’s time to be counted on what the Prems worth to the club..Dean says we are the best team in Brum ,,Come on blues STAND UP..

  • Questions still need to be asked about the Warchest after the window closes especially if we sign Jason Lowe from Blackburn.

  • Correction to the above. Lowe was ousted by Blackburn after relegation. He is a free agent.Just what we need if we want ‘a real good go at promotion’.Heaven help us.
