Birmingham will be without the services of midfielder Lee Bowyer after he accepted a charge of violent conduct by the FA.

The 34-year-old has already missed the Blackpool game and will not be able to take part in the next two games which are against Millwall on Saturday and the first leg of the Carling Cup semi final against West Ham United the following Tuesday.

After the FA were told by referee Peter Walton that he would have sent Bowyer off had he seen the challenge, they opted to charge him.

Alex McLeish told the club’s official website: ‘We accept the decision and will now have to move forward into the next three games without the services of Bowyer.

‘We have got a good discipline record at this club and stress to the players every week how important discipline is.’
