Birmingham City have rejected an approach from table toppers Bournemouth after labeling the offer ‘insulting’

Teams are still considering any Birmingham talent as an easy target after well publisized financial troubles at the club.

But now it is thought to be a different story at the Midlands club and reports are suggesting that not even a similar fee to Nathan Redmond’s £3 million, would be enough to secure Gray.

Gray has broken into the team this season and performed really well in some star performances and this has seen some increased interest. We all remember his hatrick against Reading in that 6-1 home win.

His form has not been consistent, though. Some good performances have been followed by some typically teenage ones. He struggled away at Wolves at times and has had quiet games since.

But Blues have warned any club that the youngster is not for sale and will only be sold if they are given a large offer. So now the first bid has been knocked back, we will see who the serious bidders are.

In all seriousness, why would Gray want to swap Blues for another Championship club? He is in the team here, it is the team that has taught him so well.

I can understand going to the Premier League, if not for the football then for the huge amounts of money he could earn. But jumping up this league for a couple of extra quid? there’s risk in that.

However, it is well worth noting that Demarai is yet to sign a new deal with the club and he may well wish to leave. In that case, Blues are due a good amount of money for him.

Birmingham could hold on to the youngster but I feel they have to show intent, he has to feel that as he gets better, this team will get better.

Young footballers have to feel they are going somewhere and we need to make sure he feels that with Birmingham.
