Birmingham manager Lee Clark is happy with how his side`s pre-season has gone and has also said no one can get carried away just yet.

Clark said that the real business starts against Middlesbrough and he hopes the team are aware of that. He said he hoped the good form in pre-season will give the players confidence and momentum going into the first game of the season.

The manager also mentioned what happened last season, maybe keen to make sure all is not forgotten. In terms of what the fans think, Clark was confident the fans now know there is a team of hungry players willing to play for the shirt.

Clark said to the Birmingham Mail:

“I have said there are good characters and I hope that that will be a true reflection when the season gets going as well,“

There also will not be room for everyone and the manager is preparing to deliver bad news to some disappointed members of the pre-season squad. He is aware that such news will be a test for the players to show professionalism and determination to change his mind for future games.

In terms of what may happen come a bump in the road.

“We`re not silly, we know that`s going to be the case at times this season. That`s football.

“But I know that they will give it a right good go, and our supporters will appreciate that.”
