Richard Beale’s Blues U21 side bagged there first point of the Professional Development League season with a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers at the Macron Stadium.

Blues were without Reece Brown and Viv Solomon, who have both been key players in the U21 sides success over the past season as they were both called up to the Gary Rowett’s first team squad for the League Cup tie against Gillingham.

The young Blues side fell behind for the third consecutive League match as Bolton forward Kaiyne Woolery made a bursting run into the box and slotted home past Goalkeeper Jake Weaver.

It didn’t take long for Blues to level up through Midfielder Wes McDonald. The first year professional continued his impressive run of form as he picked up a short ball from a Blues free kick, darted through the box, dribbling through the on rushing tacklers and fired the ball passed the Bolton goalie.

Blues came out for the second half with real intent as they were perhaps lucky to be level at the break. Liam Truslove went close for Blues as a great team move teed up the young midfielder, unfortunately Truslove couldn’t execute the finish.

Goalkeeper Jake Weaver was called into action late on as Bolton looked to grab themselves the three points, Weaver who performed well throughout, dealt with the chance comfortably and Blues grabbed a first point of the season.

Blues: Weaver, Cogley, Seddon, Baba, Mbende, Harding, McDonald (Lubala 75), Adams (McFarlane 60), Truslove, Jones (Popa 75), O’Neill. Not used: Trueman, Martin.
