SIT BACK

Sitting back will only result in a Blues defeat. Villa have enough potency in their attack to hurt Blues if allowed to express themselves too openly. Eventually, Blues will crack under the pressure, as we`ve seen countless times of late.

ALLOW JONATHAN KODJIA ROOM

Jonathan Kodjia has been Villa`s driving force recently, scoring and creating goals. He has pace, power and the ability to score goals. Stopping him will be a huge task in itself but Blues must minimise his threat by getting in close, shutting him down. If our defenders, and to a lesser extent midfielders, allow him the time and room to dictate the attack, Blues will be punished.

HOOF IT

The hoof ball didn`t work at Burton Albion and Blues should steer away from it. Villa`s defence will gobble up any aimless long balls but may not be as comfortable dealing with runners on the deck. Hoofing it is not the way to go.

GIVE SILLY FOULS AWAY

Blues must regress from giving away silly, needless fouls in and around the penalty area. Villa have an array of attackers who are capable of making the most of set-pieces, Ross McCormack being one prime example.

OVER PASS

There are times when Blues can`t string two passes together and there are times when we over pass. A derby is not a game to be pussy footing around. Put simply, Blues do not have the squad to out pass teams.
