Birmingham City have been drawn against League One side Gillingham in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

The tie will be played in the week commencing the 24th of August.

Usually, Blues play their home games in the cup on a Tuesday night. However, all four local Midlands team, Blues, Villa, Baggies and Wolves have all been drawn at home so the game may be subject to change.

Blues have only ever played Gillingham eight times in all competitions, winning seven and drawing once.

The last time the two sides met in the League Cup, as it was called before it gained sponsorship, Blues won 4-0 on aggregate, with a comfortable 3-0 home win securing a more convincing scoreline for Blues.

In the league however, the last time the two sides met was in November 2001 at Gillingham. Blues walked away with a point on the day in the old Division One.
