According to a report in the Guardian this morning, Birmingham City have made moves to replace Roy Aitken by asking Sunderland for permission to their chief scout Ricky Sbragia.

Boss Alex McLeish is keen to fill the now vacant assistant manager`s roll at St Andrews now that Aitken has left to become David O`Leary`s assistant manager in the United Arab Emirates. The former Sunderland boss is his number one target.

Sbragia started his football career at Birmingham City.
