Reading`s Hal Robson-Kanu has emerged as a surprise target for Blues manager Gary Rowett. The 27 year-old is currently with the Wales squad in France taking part in Euro 2016.

Robson-Kanu is out of contract on 30 June and will not make a decision on his future until he returns from France. However, Gary Rowett has been in contact with his agent regarding a possible deal, according to a Vital Blues source.

A host of clubs have expressed an interest in the Acton-born winger but it is understood that Robson-Kanu is angling towards a move to the Premier League after learning that Watford and Swansea are keen.

Robson-Kanu is high on Rowett`s target list, however, the Blues manager has other irons in the fire on the assumption of missing out on him. Blues` interest was more of a test of the waters than an expectant punt.

Swansea have been monitoring his situation since the end of last season. Robson-Kanu scored five goals in 35 appearances for Reading from out wide last season – but he can also play as a striker as he did for Wales against England yesterday.

Robson-Kanu scored Wales` 81st minute winner in their opening Group B match against Slovakia last week.
