The Guardian are reporting that Birmingham City are interested in taking Crystal Palace midfielder Lee Chung-yong on loan, with a host of Premier League and Championship clubs also fighting for his signature.

The 28-year-old has started just four Premier League games for Palace this season and Sam Allardyce is ready to allow the former Bolton man to depart Selhurst Park.

Blues face plenty of competition for the South Korea international with Swansea, Burnley and local rivals Aston Villa all interested amongst other clubs.

Blues fans will remember Lee for his numerous goals scored against the club including the winner in Bolton`s 3-2 FA Cup quarter final victory at St Andrews in 2011 and the opener in the 2-2 draw which saw Blues escape relegation thanks to Paul Caddis` 93rd minute equaliser.

Gianfranco Zola has already added six new faces to his squad this transfer window including the most recent acquisition Dan Scarr who will head straight into the Under-23s.

Blues were also linked with Watford striker Jerome Sinclair earlier today with a loan deal for the 20-year-old very much a possibility.
