Blues Swap Shop Rubbish?

Vital Blues reported yesterday Karren Brady saying that Blues ‘crown jewels’ are not for sale and that she has warned Liverpool’s Rick Parry off making an approach for Jermaine Pennant.

However, flying in the face of her comments,

‘Our view is that we want to get out of this division as soon as possible. We have released all those we don’t think can help us achieve that. We are now in the process of buying players to ensure that we have the best squad in the Championship next season. We think that Jermaine Pennant will be a big asset in the Championship so we have no plans whatsoever to sell him. Jermaine, Emile Heskey and Matthew Upson are the core of our team and we believe they can lead us back into the Premiership.’

The papers are still insisting that Liverpool will move for Jermaine Pennant and a report in the Sun goes even further saying that Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard both want the player at Anfield. Paper talk is all I can say but it would be interesting to see how Pennant reacted IF a bid came in? Not many players turn down a move to Liverpool but he has stated that he is happy to stay an fight next season to get Blues back up into the Premiership.

In the Mirror a report suggests that Fulham manager Chris Coleman has joined in the ‘race’ for Emile Heskey’s signature and that Fulham are looking to arrange a swap deal. Again, probably paper talk because surely the only players Fulham would be willing to let go of – in a squad not exactly made up of stars – would be the sort that we don’t need at St Andrews?

One report, from clubcall, suggests the players Fulham would look to use are forwards Collins John and Heidar Helguson. Mind you, they also say Blues have put a £3million price on the transfer of Heskey with Wigan and Blackburn interested. How can they have put a price on a player that Brady says is not for sale?!
